Echoes Have Answers | Why We Do How We Do

Dearest Community,

Foolish - that’s what people thought when I first started ARTICLE22 making artisanal bracelets from shrapnel and scrap. But this global community here who wear and share our jewelry from Laos and Ukraine answered our echoes for PEACE, LOVE, and HOPE.

I am writing now to share the news that we are raising prices site wide after years of stable rates for our beloved community from over forty countries across the globe. The change will take effect by November 1st. I invite you to enjoy current pricing for the next weeks.

Hard material costs, labor, and inflation have made it impossible to avoid this. True sustainable fashion means fair prices for everyone along our supply chain. This has been core to our mission from day one.

In 2009, I had the idea to create a bangle in collaboration with remote village artisans who were upcycling bomb shrapnel and scrap into spoons. Taking their local idea global, our community has enabled artisan families to build houses with concrete foundations, access healthcare, and send their kids to school on bicycles. Together, we have contributed to MAG (Mines Advisory Group) to clear over 5 million square feet of land in Laos which includes removing an astounding 350 cluster munitions from the farmland of one family in 2015, and co-sponsoring an Emergency Roving MAG team along the Ho Chi Minh Trail in Khammouane Province, Laos.

With our rising prices, we are elevating our designs and cannot wait to show you the newest styles in our collection later this fall. Making room for these, we are selling through the styles on our FINAL FEW PAGE. The ones in gold will also see a price hike since they were produced earlier this year.

Our virtuous circle is real and quantifiable. We don’t greenwash or “donate profits”. We keep it very simple: whether or not we earn money from a sale, we donate with every single piece sold and our artisans always get paid in full.

The artisans along our supply chain are actively involved in solving the problem of 80 million unexploded ordnance that contaminates their land - from those who craft Peacebomb jewelry, to the other local families who create our packing paper and pouches.

You are our core supporters, and this heads-up is to allow you as much time as possible to shop our collection at its current price. Thank you for all you do. Do not hesitate to reach out to service@article22.com with any questions.

One of my favorite songs this year is an upward looking song to the celestial skies above by Jain, called The Fool.

"echoes have no answer,
so I won’t ask anything"

Our tight knit ARTCLE22 team has asked over the years and you have answered and worn our beautiful meaningful jewelry that represents our shared humanity across our planet Earth if not the universe ;)
